#40 of 365 -- Notebook Version 10.6
Smart Notebook users should be aware of a new update that came out last week. Version 10.6 has a couple of very neat new features.
The most obvious feature is a new icon on your toolbar that gives you access to Measurement Tools. This is basically a ruler, protractor, compass and set square.
The WhiteBoard blog located at this address < http://www.whiteboardblog.co.uk/2010/01/smart-notebook-10-6-new-tools/ > has a nice explanation of the new tools that will be useful additions to your math toolbox.

#39 of 365 -- Pic-Lit
This is a neat site posted by Jen Farr on Twitter - PIC-LITS - inspired picture writing.
http://www.piclits.com/compose_dragdrop.aspx
Pic-Lits is a creative writing site that provides pictures and a word bank for students to create a enriched sentence or sentences about the picture.
The object is to put the right words in the right place and the right order to capture the essence, story, and meaning of the picture. Students can choose to only drag words from the word bank to create their sentence or compose a sentence freestyle.
How to integrate Pic Lits into the classroom: Pic Lits is a great way to get students to think creatively and critically about writing. Students can choose any picture and then use the word list to create a sentence. Pic Lits is complete with punctuation and any word can be capatalized.
Tips: Students can sign up for a free account and save each Pic Lit they create. At the end of the year, each student can create a book of their Pic Lits to take home for creative inspiration.

#27 of 365 - Finger Glove
featherbee said...
If you have kids who have sweaty or sticky fingers, use a "finger glove." I take one of those cheap stretchy knit kid's gloves and cut the fingers off. Their fingers slide much more smoothly and things aren't dropped or double clicked any more.
I teach kindergarten, and we love our smartboard!

#6 of 365 - Changing the Pen Color
Typically when you pick up a blue SMART Board pen you will write notes in blue or if you pick up a black SMART Board pen and you will write notes in black.
If you want to temporarily change the writing color just pick up any pen, click on properties, then on line style and select a color, thickness and transparency. Your pen will write in that color until you toggle off by either selecting another tool or putting the pen back in the tray.
To permanently change the color of a pen, or change it permanently into a highlighter go to SMART Board control panel, select SMART hardware settings and change the pen settings - color and transparency.

#2. Languages Online
Languages Online was created by teachers who were inspired by creating interactive lessons for their own students. It allows students to practice the language they are learning in a variety of different ways. Work can be completed as a whole class, in a lab or at the students own pace. The units are self marking so students are able to receive instant feedback on their progress.
