Wordnik is a place for all the words, and everything known about them.

The goal is to show you as much information as possible.

By "information," they don't just mean traditional definitions. This information could be:

• An example sentence — tons of examples and gobs of other data for most words.

• Related words: not just synonyms and antonyms, but words that are used in the same contexts.Cheeseburger, milkshake, and doughnut aren't synonyms, but they show up in the same kinds of sentences.

• Images tagged by Flickr: want to know what a pout looks like?

• Statistics: how rare is the word?

• An audio pronunciation—and you can record your own!

365/2010 Challenge - Virtual SMART BUG

Join the virtual SMART BUG (Smartboard Users Group)and accept the challenge to help post 365 suggestions for educational use of the SMART BOARD during 2010. It is very easy, when you would like to make a suggestion just add a comment to any 2010 blog post along with a brief introduction if it is your first time posting.

Already it is January 2 so here I go with post #1 and #2.

#1. Poetry Splatter

This is one of 11 reading and writing games available on the Game Station section of the RIF Reading Planet website.

Using the Poetry Splatter is easy. Just choose a poem title from the list. When you see your poem, you will have to fill in the blanks with words that are splattered onto the screen.

#2. Languages Online

Languages Online was created by teachers who were inspired by creating interactive lessons for their own students. It allows students to practice the language they are learning in a variety of different ways. Work can be completed as a whole class, in a lab or at the students own pace. The units are self marking so students are able to receive instant feedback on their progress.
